    Western University Interdisciplinary Initiative in Digital Humanities

    CulturePlex Lab at Western University

    Researchers at CulturePlex study cultural complexity and actively practice digital humanities. Their projects include The Hispanic Baroque, Dr. Glearning, a 3D Campus, Sylva: A Flexible Database System for the Humanities, VL3: A Virtual Laboratory for Language Learning, and Yutzu.

    MATRIX: The Center for the Humane Arts, Letters, and Social Sciences Online

    MATRIX (http://matrix.msu.edu) is devoted to the application of new technologies for teaching, research, and outreach. As one of the premier humanities computing centers in the United States, MATRIX creates and maintains online resources, provides training in computing and new teaching technologies, and creates forums for the exchange of ideas and expertise in the field.

    OARN: Ontario Augmented Reality Network

    OARN is a collaboration of universities, private-sector developers, cultural agencies, trade associations, local government and business generators dedicated to building and expanding the Augmented Reality Applications sector.

    NiCHE: Network in Canadian History & Environment

    NiCHE (http://niche-canada.org) is a research consortium that brings together historians, geographers, and other researchers who study nature and humans in Canada’s past. NiCHE offers a forum for the field, support for collaboration among scholars, and ensures that this research is shared with policymakers, scientists, and the Canadian public.

    FIMS: Faculty of Information and Media Studies

    FIMS is a vibrant, expanding faculty at Western University comprising more than 45 full-time faculty members and 22 non-academic staff. FIMS offers strong programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels and is linked to the public and private sectors and to community organizations, in an academic environment characterized by interdisciplinarity, collaboration, creative inquiry, and critical thinking.
